The International Students Interdisciplinary Symposium, organized under the theme “Interdisciplinary Transformation on the Axis of Two Easts and Two Wests: Student Vision from Academia to Practice,” was hosted by our university and held with the participation of international students from different countries, academics, and representatives of stakeholder institutions.

The opening program of the symposium was attended by our Rector, Prof. Dr. Osman Nuri Çelik, Vice Rector Nurettin Çetinkaya, Secretary General Kamil Gök, Head of the Symposium Organizing Committee Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Ali Kapar, President of the Two Easts Two Wests Association M. İkbal Şenol, Vice President of the International Student Associations Federation (UDEF) Mahmut Oğuz, Head of the Symposium Organizing Committee Prof. Dr. Yusuf Sayın, as well as many academics and students.

The symposium, which aimed to make the academic knowledge, skills and competencies of international students visible on a scientific ground, sought to support academic production by encouraging interdisciplinary interaction. It was intended that international students studying in Konya, particularly the participants of the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB) International Student Academy, share their theoretical knowledge and practical experience through academic writing, research and presentation processes.

SCIENTIFIC SHARING THROUGH INTERDISCIPLINARY SESSIONS

In the symposium, conducted in field-based sessions, original works from different disciplines were presented and a scientific discussion environment was created. While the aim was to develop students’ critical thinking, research and academic communication skills within the scope of the event, the symposium also aimed to become a sustainable platform supporting the academic production of international students through its institutional and interdisciplinary structure.

OUR RECTOR: “INTERDISCIPLINARY APPROACH PLAYS A CRITICAL ROLE”

The symposium began with opening speeches that drew attention to the importance of the program. Speaking on behalf of the host institution, our Rector, Prof. Dr. Osman Nuri Çelik, emphasized that the interdisciplinary approach plays a critical role in producing holistic solutions to today’s complex problems. Stating that the works to be presented would bring together different disciplines and enrich academic production, Rector Çelik expressed that the symposium offers an important opportunity for students to become acquainted with scientific thinking and research culture at an early stage. Noting that supporting young researchers is among the fundamental responsibilities of universities, Rector Çelik thanked the academics and stakeholder institutions who contributed to the organization.
