Our university’s Faculty of Architecture and Design sent its students off into professional life with an enthusiastic graduation ceremony. The ceremony, held at the Gelişim Campus Sports Hall, was attended by our Rector Prof. Dr. Osman Nuri Çelik, Secretary General Kamil Gök, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Architecture and Design Prof. Dr. Mustafa Tosun, the faculty’s academic and administrative staff, and the families of the graduating students.
This year’s graduation ceremony held particular significance because, in addition to the graduates of the Department of City and Regional Planning and the Department of Architecture, the Department of Interior Architecture, which provides education within the faculty, also produced its first graduates. Thus, the Department of Interior Architecture experienced the pride of sending its first graduates off into professional life.
Acting Dean Prof. Dr. Mustafa Tosun, who delivered the opening speech of the program, said: “Dear graduates, today you are not only completing an educational program, but also taking an important step that will shape the future of society. Throughout your education, you have learned to analyze problems, bring different stakeholders together, and develop solutions by taking the public interest into consideration. These competencies will be your most important guide throughout your professional lives. I congratulate you all and wish you success.”
Our Rector Prof. Dr. Çelik, who later took the floor, began his speech by emphasizing that they were witnessing an important moment and said: “I am very happy and proud to be together with you at the graduation ceremony of our Faculty of Architecture and Design, one of the most established and strongest academic units of our university. Today, we are all witnessing a very special moment in which long and devoted efforts are rewarded and dreams are transformed into professional identities.
Konya Technical University was established in 2018 by incorporating well-established faculties, with the aim of contributing to the development of the country and becoming a pioneer of advancement in science and technology. Having completed its eighth year, our university today continues its education, teaching, and research activities with determination through three faculties, one vocational school, one institute, more than 10,000 students, and over 800 academic and administrative staff members.”
KTÜN’s Success Draws Attention
Referring to our university’s contribution to science, our Rector also spoke about KTÜN’s achievements as follows: “In line with its vision of being the ‘Pioneer of Development,’ our university continues to move forward with confidence toward its goal of becoming a respected Research University at the national and international levels—one that produces science and technology and places people and the environment at its centre. As a tangible indication of this vision, it rose to 46th place among 198 universities in the overall evaluation of the URAP 2025 Türkiye Ranking.
In the same rankings, our university also achieved 38th place among public universities when private foundation universities were excluded, and 11th place among universities without a faculty of medicine. Our university, which we expect to continue progressing in the 2026 rankings, continues to demonstrate that it is steadily increasing its academic productivity and research capacity.”
Concluding his speech by addressing the students, our Rector said: “Today, with your graduation, you are stepping into a new life. The education in architecture and design that you have received has not only provided you with professional knowledge, but has also equipped you with analytical thinking, a critical perspective, problem-solving skills, creativity, and an awareness of ethical responsibility. I particularly advise you to take science as your guide throughout your professional lives and never give up on the power of hard work and reason.
Remember that you are individuals who will shape the cities, spaces, and ways of life in which you live. Using the knowledge and skills you possess by combining them with social benefit, environmental awareness, and ethical values will further enhance both the reputation of your profession and that of our university. I sincerely believe that you will carry the responsibility and pride of being a graduate of Konya Technical University in every area of your lives.”
Following the speeches, the program continued with the presentation of plaques to the highest-achieving students and concluded with the graduation procession and cap-throwing ceremony.
