WHAT IS MEDEK?
MEDEK was established to contribute to the development of a qualified workforce in line with Türkiye's strategic development plans and to improve the qualifications of Vocational School (MYO) graduates. Its main function is to provide accreditation services by evaluating the compliance of Vocational School programs with defined standards, quality criteria, and performance metrics.
The Vocational Education Evaluation and Accreditation Association (MEDEK) was established in 2021 with the strategic encouragement and support of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK). The main purpose of this organization is to improve the quality of Vocational School (MYO) programs in Türkiye and to bring their professional qualifications to national and international standards.
Having rapidly completed the authorization process after its establishment, MEDEK was officially recognized as an accreditation body by the Council of Higher Education Quality (YÖKAK) in 2023. In the initial authorization phase, it received the authority to provide accreditation services to 83 Vocational School programs throughout Turkey; this number has continuously increased in subsequent years. MEDEK operates as an authorized association that systematically develops the quality standards of Vocational School programs, improves education and training processes through external evaluation, and ultimately certifies the quality of these programs. These activities directly contribute to meeting Türkiye's need for a qualified workforce.
MEDEK's Purpose: MEDEK's main objective is to lead the training of professionals who follow professional developments, respond to changing workforce needs, and possess the following qualities:
High professional skills and qualifications
Innovative and socially responsible
Able to take initiative
Possessing the qualities sought by the relevant sector
Vision: To be a leading organization that defines the quality of intermediate human resources in the education, research, and administrative processes of associate degree programs with national and international standards, and shares the results with relevant institutions and organizations to certify their quality.
Mission: To contribute to raising the quality of education and training by providing information, external evaluation, and accreditation services for associate degree programs.
Benefits for Students:
The main benefits gained by students and graduates of a program accredited by MEDEK are as follows:
Higher Quality Education: The accreditation process demonstrates that the quality of education and training in the program meets specific national and international standards. This helps students acquire more up-to-date skills needed by the industry.
International Recognition: Accredited programs are generally aligned with the Turkish Qualifications Framework (TYÇ) and the European Qualifications Framework (EQF). Thanks to this alignment, the diploma obtained becomes internationally recognized.
Easier Job Opportunities: Graduates of accredited programs have easier job opportunities after graduation because their qualifications are certified as sought after by the industry. Employers can access qualified workforce with greater confidence.
